The Prophet ﷺ was asked, “What should be avoided in the sacrificial animals?” He gestured with his hand and said, “Four:

1. a lame animal which is obviously lame,
2. one-eyed animal whose defect is obvious,
3. sick animal whose sickness is obvious,
4. an emaciated animal that no one would choose.”
