Jabir said when describing the Prophet’s (saw) pilgrimage: and when he approached mount Safa he recited: (إِنَّ الصَّفَا والمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعائرِ الله…) أَبْدَأُ بِمَا بَدَأَ اللهُ بِهِ …so he started with Safa and climed it until he could see the Kabah, he then faced it and said: اللهُ أكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ …and then he would say the following three times making a supplication (one should make a personal supplication) after each time: لَا إِلهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ المُلْكُ وَلَهُ الحَمْدُ وهُوَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيءٍ قَديرٌ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ أَنْجَزَ وَعْدَهُ، وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ وَهَزَمَ الأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ …he (saw) would repeat this action at Marwah.

Indeed Safa and Marwah are from the places of worship of Allah… Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest. I begin with what Allah began with. Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things amnipotent. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone. He fulfilled His promise, aided His Servant and single-handedly defeated the allies.
