Meaning -

Forbidden

A sacred month, so-called because battle and all kinds of fighting are forbidden (ḥarām) during this month. Muḥarram includes ‘Āshūrā’, the tenth day on which Muslim ummah used to fast for two consecutive days 9th and 10th or 10th and 11th.
